"My wire weaving collection is inspired by nature, organic forms and natural forces. I have interpreted aesthetics of ancient cultures, which produced stunningly beautiful and amazingly detailed artefacts, despite working without advanced metalworking tools or machinery. I would like these pieces to have the feeling of "buried treasure" from a mysterious civilisation more acutely aware of its connection with nature and the natural world than ours is today.
The pieces are abstract and are made by binding together silver (or occasionally copper) wires of various thicknesses by hand using very fine wire, coil by coil, and weaving in semi-precious gemstones as I work through the design. The silver, as in all my jewellery, is recycled, and copper (where used) is repurposed discarded electrical wire."
